Even 70 percent of trail has that breathtaking view on Adriatic sea and Croatian islands and archipelagos
Have you ever wonder how does it look when you are walking through untamed nature or when you are hiking and climbing so high you feel you could touch clouds on sky? And all that with beautiful Adriatic sea sight. Well, that is posible if you are on Via Adriatica, first and the only long distance trail in Croatia that begins in Pula in Istria and ends in Dubrovnik. Across the hills and mountains on more than 1000 kilometers long trail you can see three National Parks – Risnjak, Sjeverni Velebit and Paklenica as well as three Nature Parks – Učka, Velebit and Biokovo. Even 70 percent of trail has that breathtaking view on Adriatic sea and Croatian islands and archipelagos. So, if you like active vacation and adventure and you want to know and feel how does it look when you see places so beautiful that you burst into tears, than Via Adriatica, known as “Croatian El Camino” or “Croatian Pacific Crest Trail”, is your “must” in this country with so much diversities.
The close-knit community of mountaineers and Srećko Vukov, the creative author of the Via Adriatica, have designed this tour to connect the best of Croatian nature in one trail and as the most beautiful way to get to know the marvellous nature that the Dinarides have to offer. The trail is diveded into 13 sections and if you are brave and enthusiastic enough you will be able to pass all of sections in about 50 days, Also, Via Adriatica connects 152 monuntain tops in Croatia wich is pretty big challenge for expirienced hikers but for those who are at the beginning of their hiking career, too. How’s that? Well, everyone dictates their own tempo so you can finish one of thirteen sections in one or in ten days. It’s up to you. The main goal of Via Adriatica is to enjoy the nature and to find yourself in it. In fact, Via Adriatica is a combination of existing marked hiking trails, forest roads, and some local roads with insignificant traffic.
The trail, which runs so close to the sea and yet climbs to the highest peak in Croatia, has a total altitude difference of 41,000 metres and runs right along the edge of continental and coastal Croatia and will literally take your breath away. During the hike from the highest peaks, you will have beautiful views of the Adriatic archipelago, unforgettable scenes that will leave the unspoilt and wild Croatia in your memory forever. But it’s not enough to simply have an open mind. Set aside at least two months or, if you’re the competitive type, around 30 days if you want to break the Via Adriatica record. Of course, each section can be completed independently. The decision is up to you!
